H.R. Owen Aston Martin – Cheltenham, H.R. Owen Bentley – Cheltenham and Sam FM radio partnered with the Bristol City Football Club to provide one lucky Bristol youngster with the chance of a lifetime: The opportunity to “Live like a Footballer” for a day
The deserving winner would be given a full day behind the scenes with the Bristol City Football Club, including a chance to join in on the training. While the competition featured a number of deserving youngsters across the city, one candidate stood above the rest: Connor from Patchway
Connor (9) lives with his parents, Pete and Rachel Gudge, and his brother Tyler (5), who suffers from Global Development Delay, a medical condition that prevents him from walking or talking. Though Tyler’s condition can put a strain on normal family life, Connor never complains and remains a steadfast brother.
When it came time to enjoy his special day, Connor was picked up in a sleek Aston Martin and driven to the City’s Failand ground in Bristol.
Followed by his mum and dad in a Bentley, the family was greeted at City grounds by team captain Wade Elliott. After being introduced to all the players at breakfast, he was taken to the training ground where he was allowed to participate in the warm-up, passing games and drills.
At the conclusion of his morning on the pitch, Connor was presented with a signed shirt and other gifts before going to the team clubhouse for a very special lunch.
When the day finally drew to a close, Connor enjoyed a pampered ride home in an Aston Martin.
Congratulations, Connor! We hope you enjoyed living like a footballer for a day!
