David Beckham and his Maserati MC20

David Beckham and the Maserati MC20: Idol Meets Icon

One of the world’s greatest ever footballers, and a verified style icon the world over – David Beckham – has designed his very own Maserati MC20. The union was masterminded by Maserati’s Fuoriserie customisation program, allowing clients such as Beckham to alter their car’s appearance inside and out. For this example, inspiration came from Beckham’s football team, Inter Miami FC.

The club’s kit is a mixture of black and pink, with both matte and glossy design elements. The car directly picks up on these themes, with the bodywork’s glossy black tone contrasted by opaque black Trident logos on the grille and on the C-pillar, as well as more opaque lettering on the rear. The MC20 badge on the door is pink, as are the Brembo brakes.

On the inside, customisation elements span from black Alcantara seats with contrast-stitching in pink to a personalised nameplate with a glossy-matte effect on the central tunnel where “For David” appears with an aluminum effect.

David Beckham said: “I have always been a car enthusiast, so to be part of designing and creating my MC20 through the Fuoriserie customisation programme has been an amazing experience. Cars are about individual taste whether it’s the model, colour or small personal details on the inside. It has been incredible to collaborate with the Maserati team and designers to create this one-off car that is inspired by my second home, Miami and my football club there. It is a joy to be behind the wheel.”

Maserati is one of the world’s most emotive performance manufacturers; the result of a past peppered with historic racing wins, elegant designs and innovative new technologies. With the MC20, Maserati welcomes in a new era that captures the spirit of its past with a purity not seen within the brand for more than two decades.

The Nettuno engine that sits at the heart of MC20 is the first power unit developed entirely by Maserati for over 20 years. Rated at 630hp, it gives the MC20 the best power-to-weight ratio in its class – tipping the scales at under 1,500kg, and able to accelerate from 0-62mph in under 2.9 seconds.
