H.R. Owen took a lucky group of customers from Aston Martin Cheltenham and Aston Martin Reading to experience the true power and character of Aston Martin’s latest products – the DBS Superleggera and Vantage – on Spain’s longest race track, hidden away in the country’s southern woodlands.
Hosted by Auto Vivendi, the H.R. Owen Aston Martin guests spent two days at the picturesque Ascari race track. Clear blue skies and sweltering heat added to the occasion, with the guests getting their first taste of the Aston Martin Vantage and Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, getting to grips with the differing characteristics on the unique but challenging Ascari circuit.
The Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, Aston’s ultimate offering with a 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 in a 2+2 Super GT layout is often referred to as a ‘brute in a suit’. The most muscular of the range, the DBS Superleggera is capable of hitting 62mph in 3.4 seconds before topping out at 211mph. It combines the responses of a supercar with the refinement of a GT.
On the other hand, the Aston Martin Vantage is the more dainty, sporty offering, allowing drivers a more refined, athletic feel. Powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, the Vantage is capable of reaching 62mph in 3.6 seconds before hitting the limiter at 195mph. The first of the range to be fitted with an electronic rear differential, the Vantage can react according to the dynamic situation and direct the engine’s power to the relevant wheels.
Aston Martin experts were on hand over the course of the two days to give tips to the drivers on getting the most out of Aston Martin’s latest models.
After an exciting first day on-track, the H.R. Owen Aston Martin group enjoyed a fabulous dinner overlooking the oldest bullfighting ring in Spain before getting some much needed rest ahead of another full day honing their skills at Ascari in the two cars.
