H.R. Owen Partners with Mayor’s Fund for London Access Aspiration Programme

H.R. Owen have partnered with the Mayor’s Fund for London charity in a programme to help create more visibility of careers and pathways into employment for 16–18-year-olds through aspirational employer encounters and experiences.

Named Access Aspiration, the initiative is run by the Mayor’s Fund for London, which is an independent charity championing opportunities for young Londoners from low-income backgrounds. The aim of Access Aspiration is to help provide careers support and guidance for young Londoners, who are making key decisions about their future, but struggling to make links with employers.

“It’s a real honour for us to be able to partner with this wonderful charity and share the work that we do at H.R. Owen through the Access Aspiration programme. Our business thrives on the fresh-thinking, hard-working attitude of the next generation, and we’re delighted to be able to be involved in opening up new opportunities and future careers,” – Ken Choo, H.R. Owen CEO

As part of the programme, a group of 10 students had the opportunity to participate in a Business Insights workshop, hosted by H.R Owen on Thursday 17th February. Held for half a day at H.R. Owen’s Ferrari Service Centre – at Premier Park in North West London – a series of speakers from across the H.R. Owen business gave talks to the students, discussing their careers and their journey to where they are today. Students also received a behind the scenes tour of the H.R. Owen Ferrari Service workshop.

“The visit from the Mayor’s Fund for London was a real highlight, being able to spark the enthusiasm of a group of young men and women at a crucially important time in their lives. There are always career opportunities available at H.R. Owen, requiring a whole host of different skillsets and attitudes, and I hope through the insightful talks of our employees and the experience we were able to give our visitors, we’ll see some of them come back one day,” – Catherine Desmond, H.R. Owen Group HR Director.
