Lamborghini LP 780-4 Ultimae: the final incarnation of the Aventador

“The Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae denotes the final, purest, timeless, naturally aspirated production V12 Lamborghini… it is the definitive Aventador concluding an extraordinary era.” Those are the words of Lamborghini CEO, Stephan Winkelmann, in perfect summation of the Ultimae – it is the very best of Aventador’s 10-year production run and one final swansong for Lamborghini’s pure-V12 models.

The new LP 780-4 Ultimate, available as both a Coupé and Roadster, is a perfect combination of the raw track-focused thrills of the Aventador SVJ with the design and usability of the Aventador S, including the S model’s four-wheel-steering system.

That ‘best of both worlds’ philosophy extends to the exterior design with a look that sits nicely between the high-downforce aero of SVJ and subtlety of S. The side skirts, side intake design, and dual-exit exhaust – mounted higher up the rear bumper – are all SVJ-inspired but the front bumper and active rear wing each quietly allude to the S.

As with every Aventador since its inception, the V12 that powers the Ultimae is the esteemed 6.5-litre unit, but here in its most powerful iteration yet with a peak power figure of 770hp at 8500rpm, 10hp more than the SVJ. As with the SVJ and S, that power is sent to all four wheels via Lamborghini’s ISR single-clutch automated manual transmission.

The Aventador Ultimae’s performance figures are almost identical to the SVJ’s, reaching 62mph in 2.8sec and 124mph in 8.7sec, but it’ll go onto a higher top speed of 220mph, helped no doubt by the clean lines rather than the more aggressive aero set-up of the SVJ. Optimised Variable Valve Timing and Variable Intake System have shifted the torque curve of the Ultimae for more flexible performance. Its carbon-ceramic braking system delivers 62mph to standstill in just 30 m, too.

A numbered series of just 350 Ultimae Coupés and 250 Roadsters will be produced, with each available in a new palette of two-tone colours. The Coupé was launched in a grey-on-grey configuration, with lines and details such as the front splitter’s outline and ‘teeth’ picked out in matt red Rosso Mimir, exemplifying the level of personalisation available to Ultimae buyers. The Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae Roadster was launched in Blu Tawaret and Blu Nethuns with the roof panels in high gloss black carbon fibre.

Offered as standard are 18 colors, with an unprecedented range of options and more than 300 colors available through Lamborghini Ad Personam, allowing owners to create their own, unique piece of Lamborghini V12 motoring history.
