Maserati MC20 is British GQ’s “Super Sports Car of The Year”

The Maserati MC20 has been honoured as the ‘Super Sports Car of the Year’ at the British GQ Car Awards 2021.

According to British GQ the “Maserati has an allure that refuses to be extinguished and the release of the MC20 proves the brand is once again red hot. All-new, technically fascinating, and with a mid-mounted 626bhp twin-turbo V6, the MC20 is classy, charismatic and alternative.”

Davide Grasso, Maserati CEO, added “The launch of the MC20 last year heralded a new era for Maserati, and we’re delighted that the hard work put in by the team has been recognised by British GQ. We’re proud of what this award means for Maserati and we’re very much looking forward to our brave new future with this first-of-its-kind car. We are innovative by nature, powered by passion and unique by design. These are the same values that spurred the Maserati brothers over 106 years ago, and they are the same values that from Modena take flight and put Maserati in the spotlight of the global mobility stage.”

The Maserati MC20 represents the start of a new era for one of the world’s most emotive sports car brands. Combining performance, race-bred DNA and luxury, the MC20 delivers uniquely Maserati style, led by elegance and purpose. This car envelops the brand’s historic identity, becoming the latest in a line of legendary sports cars and the spiritual successor to the track-focused MC12 of the early 2000s.

With significant emphasis on power and performance, the 3.0-litre Nettuno powertrain is rated at 630hp. The MC20’s twin turbo V6, a technologic gem already awarded an international patent, puts to use MTC (Maserati Twin Combustion) technology, the ground-breaking combustion system developed in-house. The Nettuno engine will be built in Modena at the newly established Maserati Engine Lab.
