The Dream Apprenticeship: Aston Martin Cheltenham

Following the arrival of fully qualified technician, Ellie Lewis, Aston Martin Cheltenham is delighted to be welcoming on board two more new young talents, this time as part of the Aston Martin Apprenticeship Programme.

Jack Cordell joins the team as Trainee Parts Advisor and Alfie Hirschfield becomes our newest Aston Martin Trainee Technician. Alfie and Jack will be working closely in the Aftersales department, ensuring Aston Martin Cheltenham customers receive an exemplary customer service throughout their ownership.

In his role as Parts Advisor, Jack works with the team responsible for securing, pricing and quoting anything from a simple bulb to more complex components within the engine structure and much more, all of which come together to create some of the most incredible performance cars in the world. Without Jack’s work, the service department wouldn’t have the necessary parts on-hand to carry out repairs or upgrades in good time.

It’s a job that Jack’s made for. “I’ve always had a massive interest in cars ever since I was young. In fact, my family always told me they thought I’d end up doing something with cars. When I saw Aston Martin Cheltenham were looking for a Trainee Parts Advisor, it was something I knew I just had to apply for. Being around these cars will never get old; I’ve wanted to do something like this for as long as I can remember,” said Jack.

Once Jack has secured the right parts for the service department, it falls to the Technicians to install them. Technicians like Alfie, who’s currently learning the ropes with the more experienced members of the service department.

“I’m spending a lot of time on the shop floor learning about Aston Martins, specifically how to maintain and repair them. I have a great mentor who’s slowly teaching me the basics from setting tyre pressures, wheel removal to replacing brakes. I’m also spending a lot of time completing e-Learning modules, which is really useful in enabling me to learn every single aspect of the Aston Martin model range.”

For Alfie, being a Vehicle Technician runs in the family. “My dad started his career as a Technician and worked his way up to Service Manager, so I’ve got ambitions to follow the same path as him. I’ve always been quite hands-on, and attention to detail is important to me; something that’s extremely important to the team here too. Everything has to be perfect,” said Alfie.

Both Alfie and Jack join the existing team at Aston Martin Cheltenham, perfectly placed to learn from their decades of experience in selling and maintaining the fastest cars in the world.
