On Thursday, May 28th The Grove, Hertfordshire, home of the 2006 AMEX World Golf Championship, played host to the American Express Golf Classic.
Sponsored in part by H.R. Owen, the contest featured teams from across the globe competing for the right to play in the Srixon Industry Invitational 2015 Final, an amateur golf tournament that takes place this October at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples, Florida. Winners not only received an invitation to the Tournament Final, but also return flights, twin accommodation and three rounds of golf.
The event was played as a team stableford competition with the top two of every four scores counting. Players in their finest “smart-casual” attire were required to play ¾’s of their full handicap and from the silver tees. In the spirit of good fun, organisers included a beat the pro, nearest the pin and longest drive competition. All players were entitled to purchase a mulligan at the onset of the event, with the proceeds going to charity.

- 21:00 – Depart at Leisure
Aside from revelling in the festivities and experiencing the world-class facilities and hospitality of one of England’s finest golf courses first-hand, participants also enjoyed a distinctly unique opportunity to test drive different models of Bentley and Maserati vehicles provided by H.R. Owen.
A variety of Bentley and Maserati prizes were also given away on the day to participants.
