Customers from H.R. Owen’s Cheltenham and Reading Aston Martin dealerships put their driving skills to the test last week, going head-to-head on track in a battle for South of England bragging rights. The Cotswolds vs Chilterns showdown played out on the neutral territory of Thruxton Kart Centre, where clients from both locations engaged in a fierce yet friendly competition of speed and endurance.
Fully kitted out with helmets, suits and gloves, the ten teams of four had plenty of time to familiarise themselves with their karts; a 30-minute practice and qualifying round being followed by the commencement of the two-hour race. Once the green flag fell, drivers were free to decide their own team tactics, with a popular approach being to simply drive as quickly as possible, while those not on circuit enjoyed a full hospitality experience beneath sunny skies.
Two hours passed in an instant and, with the brake dust still settling, Aston Martin Cheltenham secured not only the top step of the podium, but second place as well. Consolation was to be found for Reading in their two representatives on the third-place team, however, as well as the huge amount of fun which was enjoyed by all who took part.
Luckily for these Aston Martin owners, the drive home was just as exhilarating.
