Already one of the most luxurious SUVs ever created, Bentley has taken the Bentayga one sumptuous step further with the reveal of the new Bentayga EWB. Designed to deliver unsurpassed accommodation for drivers and passengers alike, the new extended wheelbase model sets ground-breaking standards in rear legroom and rear-seat accommodation. Powered by a powerful 4.0 litre V8 engine, it combines beautiful proportions with head-turning road presence and offers a perfect balance of serene tranquility and effortless performance.
With a wealth of innovative features for the comfort and convenience of passengers, merged seamlessly with the latest technology, artisan craftsmanship and effortless power, the New Bentayga EWB creates an SUV unlike any seen before. A subtle extension of 180mm delivers a radical increase in rear legroom, which blends effortlessly with the Bentayga’s sleek proportions.
In the rear of the cabin, where that extension translates directly into extra legroom, is a new 4+1 seating configuration, which creates two extraordinary rear seats, with the option to seat a fifth in the middle if necessary. There are standard four and five-seat variations, too. For the convenience of rear-seat passengers, the new front console includes wireless charging for smartphones and a highly advanced touchscreen remote, which can control many of the interior features.
Combining the 4+1 configuration with Bentley Airline Seat specification brings the most advanced seat ever fitted to any car, with 22 ways of adjustment and world-firsts in the form of a revolutionary new auto climate sensing system and postural adjustment technology.
In Relax mode, the seat can recline to 40 degrees, whilst the passenger seat glides forwards, and a beautifully leather-trimmed footrest deploys from the back of the front passenger seat. In Business mode, the seat moves into its most upright position to make working on the move effortless.
The auto climate seat technology senses occupant temperature and surface humidity and then determines whether to apply heat, ventilation or both simultaneously to maintain the occupant at optimum thermal wellbeing. Meanwhile, the postural adjustment system automatically makes micro-adjustments to the occupant’s seating position and pressure points, by measuring pressure across the seat surface.
For the first time on a Bentley, power closing doors can be specified. Two switches are located on the rear face of the extended centre console, comfortably within the reach of rear passengers. Pressing and holding the switch will close the door on the corresponding side of the vehicle using dedicated motors, creating a truly luxurious valet-like experience.
At the heart of the Bentayga EWB is the latest generation 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine which combines immense power with impressive fuel efficiency. The addition of a characteristic V8 burble, stylish twin-quad exhaust pipes and optional carbon-ceramic brakes, reveals more of the luxury SUV’s sporting character. Mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the V8 offers supercar performance, developing 542 bhp (550 PS) and 568 lb.ft (770 Nm) of torque, resulting in a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h) and 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds (100 km/h in 4.6 seconds).
