The 275 GTS spider was presented alongside the 275 GTB at the 1964 Paris Salon, marking the return of an open top model to the Ferrari catalogue, nearly two years since the cessation of 250 GT California production in early 1963.
Produced by Pininfarina in Turin, the 275 GTS was a limited production run of just 200, of which 14 were right hand drive.
Rare Company
This 275 GTS is even more exceptional because it was previously owned by the famous actress Jayne Mansfield.
Ms Mansfield became the first owner of this beautiful 275 GTS, when her new husband bought the car as a wedding present in 1966 via the Luigi Chinetti Motors Inc in California. She kept the car in the garage of her famous Pink Palace in Holmby Hills.
In 2007, legendary musician Eric Clapton bought the car, further extending the incredible history of this car.
Clapton has included the car in a number of events, including the Ferrari Concorso and Friend in 2011; a charity event for children.
This unique model is one of the five cars that received the “Chinetti Hot Upgrades” from at the factory, including 6 carburettors and cast wheels fitted to cope with the extra power of the engine.
On the 11th of November, 2013, this iconic model was Certified by Ferrari which makes it even rarer than it was already.
