The Rolls-Royce Phantom stands alone at the pinnacle of motoring – and now the new Series II edition continues its evolution as ‘the best car in the world’.
Offering subtle aesthetic enhancements in line with client feedback and a new ‘Rolls-Royce Connected’ feature, Phantom Series II’s arrival is also marked by a new Bespoke masterpiece, Phantom Platino, which introduces some alternative materials to leather.
As Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive Officer, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars explained, “With Phantom Series II, we have retained and carefully protected everything our clients love about this superlative and luxurious item; subtle, yet meaningful enhancements reflect their evolving tastes and requirements.”
Phantom’s familiar commanding presence is now complemented by a new polished horizontal line between the daytime running lights above the Pantheon Grille, while the grille itself is illuminated and the ‘RR’ Badge of Honour and Spirit of Ecstasy mascot are more prominent when viewed from the front. The headlights come with laser-cut bezel starlights, which give the car a more distinctive presence at night and provide a visual connection to the Starlight Headliner inside, which creates an impression of the night sky.
It’s also now possible to commission a darkened chrome grille surround, black bonnet reins, windscreen surround and side frame finishers, following requests from clients.
There is an additional choice in terms of wheels, too, with a 3D, milled, stainless steel wheel with triangular facets available to commission in a fully or part-polished finish. Alternatively, an elegant disc wheel that recalls the Rolls-Royces of the 1920s is offered in both polished stainless steel and black lacquer.
Inside, the sense of unparalleled craftsmanship is augmented by a slightly thicker steering wheel, providing a more satisfying point of contact for the driver, while the Series II also sees the debut of ‘Rolls-Royce Connected’, a feature which seamlessly links with Whispers, the Rolls-Royce private members’ app, providing navigation to a destination of choice.
In tandem with the introduction of Phantom Series II, Rolls-Royce has created the Bespoke Phantom Platino, which sees the rear seats eschew leather for a combination of fabrics – a luxurious white silken textile and a material derived from bamboo fibres. These are adorned with an abstract rendition of the Spirit of Ecstasy, creating a unique and delightful look.
